4th Estate Tamil (4thetamil.in) is a Tamil-language digital news publication covering Tamil Nadu, India and the world. We publish breaking news, politics, Chennai and district news, cinema, sports, technology, health, spirituality and lifestyle stories, along with video reports on our YouTube channel.
Our mission
Journalism is called the “fourth estate” because a free press holds power to account. Our aim is to give Tamil readers accurate, timely and fair news in their own language — reporting what happened, why it matters and who it affects, without sensationalism.

Our editorial standards
- Accuracy: we verify facts with at least one reliable source before publishing, and we attribute information to its source.
- Fairness: when a story involves allegations, we try to get the response of the person or organisation concerned.
- Independence: advertising never decides what we report. Sponsored or paid content is clearly labelled as such.
- Corrections: if we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and note the correction on the article. To report an error, write to 4thestate@aliveminds.in.
- Bylines and dates: every article shows when it was published and who wrote or edited it.
